Venue

Stanground is a large community comprehensive school serving south-east Peterborough and part of north-west Cambridgeshire (particularly the villages of Farcet and Yaxley).

The College has over 1600 students aged 11 to 19, of whom 300 are in the sixth form. It's also a partner in providing community education in south Peterborough, with a programme of evening classes and other community activities using our extensive facilities.

Stanground is a Specialist College for Sport. The extra funding helps to develop the sports facilities and to provide support for other schools in the area, particularly our local primary schools.

The facilities include an excellent sports hall, an indoor swimming pool and a five-a-side football centre with ten all-weather pitches. Being a specialist college, of course, is not just about sport. Stanground continue significantly to develop teaching and learning to support achievement in all areas. We value academic study, vocational learning and sporting achievement.

We are proud of the hard-working and disciplined atmosphere in the College and our most recent Ofsted inspection (September 2004) spoke highly of the Colleges work. We are proud to be an "Investor in People", a Partner School with Cambridge University Faculty of Education, a Health Promoting School and to have secured the Arts Mark Gold Award, the Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark and the Sports Mark .
