If you are a budding footballer who is considering further education, you may be surprised to know that the British Universities American Football League has 39 teams at universities all over the country.

College football is played outside of the B.A.F.L. regular season, meaning students have the luxury of playing American Football all year round, by joining the ranks of their local senior team at the end of their B.U.A.F.L. season.

The Saxons have benefited greatly from college football in the last few years, signing players from the Loughborough Aces, Leicester Lightning (now longhorns), Derby Braves, Essex Blades and the Lincoln Colonials, who as a neighboring university, the Saxons supported during their launch in 2005 the team has also fielded enquiries from players from the Kent Falcons, Hertfordshire Hurricanes and APU Phantoms.

The relationship between senior and collegiate football is mutually beneficial - whilst we recruit from the college ranks, Saxon footballers exploring the possibility of University, be it an academy prospect or a senior player returning to education, can benefit from access to a host of information on college football in order to make an informed decision on where will best meet their academic and athletic requirements. The Saxons are sensitive to the financial restraints suffered by those in further education, and offer staggered, subsidised club fees to ensure that finances do not present a barrier to participation, making the club one of the cheapest in the country for student players.
