Flag Football is usually played on a field that is smaller than a traditional football field and games are played with two teams of 5 players (a maximum of 12 in any one squad). Instead of pads and football gear, players wear two plastic flags that attach to a belt with Velcro. Players wear the belts around their waists.

In Flag Football, defensive players pull the flags off an offensive players belt to stop them as opposed to simply tackling the player with the ball.

There is no kicking of the ball in Flag football. Teams can score points by either running, or passing the ball into the end-zone. The resulting Touchdown is worth 6 points, and gives an opportunity for conversion from either 5 or 12 yards out worth 1 or 2 points respectively. Defensively, teams can score points by returning an interception for a touchdown, or by tackling an opposition player in their own end-zone, causing a Safety which is worth 2 points.

The Saxons would love to hear from parents of children aged 11 to 14 in order to add flag football to our programme, so please do not hesitate to get in touch.
