Frequently Asked Questions

All training sessions are held at Stanground Sports College in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. Training takes place every Sunday, with Youth and Junior sessions running from 10:00am - 1:00pm. Senior practise follows running 12:00pm - 3:30pm. There are additional midweek sessions for members only, contact us if you'd like more information.

The Saxons Coaching Staff is vastly experienced. Many have been involved in British American Football for 15 years. We also benefit from U.S. Coaching thanks to close ties with Alconbury Military Base.

Our Youth and Junior players benefit from seperate dedicated coaching from experienced staff with a proven track record of success in Youth Football

New players must complete a registration form, and provide a passport sized photo, and a photocopy of Drivers Licence, Passport or Birth Certificate.

Players recieve three training sessions free of charge at the end of which period you will be required to register fully should you wish to continue. Youth and Junior players must complete a Temporary Registration form at their first session to insure them for the 3 week period (This form requires a parent's signature)

The Saxons are one of the most affordable teams in the UK. Our membership currently stands at £170 a year. £35 covers league registration, with the rest of the money contributing to the clubs operating expenses. Payment is spread over monthly installments. There is an additional charge of £2 per week to cover the costs of pitch hire for training sessions. Discounts are available for students, or those seeking employment. Due to the infancy of our youth programmes, a budget is yet to be set, please contact us to discuss the costs of youth football.

The season runs from April to September. The Senior season consists of 10 games, 5 home, 5 away. There are pre-season games, and even more if we reach the playoffs - the ultimate goal is to reach the Britbowl and play for a National Championship. The majority of games are played on Sunday. The Junior team plays in approximately 5 tournaments a year, where they face as many as 6 other teams. All Junior Tournaments take place on Saturday's to ensure the availability of staff who also have senior duties.

The Saxons will supply the more expensive items, a helmet, shoulder pads and game jersey (These are kept by the club, and not available to take home). We have a small supply of bottom kit (hip, thigh, coxxyx, knee and pants) but it is adviseable to purchase your own to ensure the correct fit - we can provide advice and guidance when purchasing equipment for the first time. A gumshield is also essential for games and practise. These are not supplied by the club, but are readily available at very little cost.

No. Newcomers pay their subs on a 'Pay as you play' basis. You aren't expected to pay for games you didn't play in. You will still have to pay your £35 to register, and £15* per game from there onwards.
